Youssef Farhat's story is one of resilience, determination, and a deep-rooted passion for human rights. A decade ago, he embarked on a new chapter of his life as an undergraduate student at the University of Dayton, Ohio. Little did he know that his experiences in this city, with its own share of challenges, would shape his path towards making a significant impact on a global scale.

Hailing from the Zgharta district in northern Lebanon, Farhat's connection to his home country's struggles has always been strong. However, his recent appointment as the executive director of New York University's Centre for Human Rights and Global Justice marks a pivotal moment in his career. The center's remarkable work spanning 35 countries, collaborating with renowned experts such as UN special rapporteur Margaret Satterthwaite and environmental legal scholar Cesar Rodriguez-Garavito, ignited Farhat's desire for change.
